OK, so it's not "washington post" news, it's an LSU student publication. But it's interesting, and it shows up in a Google News search as a current top result for the query, "vampire."

False information via Wikipedia, a guy who vents his frustration at muggle prejudice and a girl who sounds like she joined a Masquerade game, not a "vampire coven," as the article would have it.

At least it's not as inflammatory as most, but it's four pages of out-of-context softheaded statements about vampire life with no analysis or hint as to why it's been written up as a newspaper article.

Interestingly, you could blame that on it being a student publication, but it's not a fault of this article in particular. Quite the contrary, when major national sources write about real vampires, it's often the same thing - as if to describe the wackiest thing you can find calling itself a "vampire" is all you need for "news."

Frankly, "This Guy Exists" is not a valid news story, no matter how wacky the audience might find This Guy. But often, when the media covers real vampirism (unless it's a psycho shooting they're blaming on us) this is the real meat of the story - the existence of, and misrepresentation of, members of the vampire community.

This article also calls my attention back to the sorry state of the Wikipedia "Vampire Lifestyle" entry...
