Two Sub Classes:

Other-realmly Kin : (Those who remember another home, realm, plane, or planet similar too the earth plane, but is not earth plane itself)

Terran Kin (Those who started reincarnating or being born as Kin on the earth plane and may not remember an other realmly plane, though a few like myself do.)

Some Claim:
Unicorn
Pegasus
Gryphon
Phoenix

[I've seen those who cliam these..and they are your basic fluff normally]

Other Classes:

Starseeds/Andromedians
Lightworkers/Oracles
Watchers
Guardians

You can have any of the types be just terran kin or other-realmly kin too, or they can be both.

The Other Classes normally don't like too be grouped in as otherkin, thinking they are something "above" that all really.
Starseeds are like star children, those who remember other galaxies (thats the claim though, most have no clue)

Lightworkers and oracles are celestial beings who channel information. Think Gypsy meets Angel like being with no wings.

Watchers - Guardians : Watchers are the father of the nephilim. In some of our homes, they were called Estari and kept the balance in all things. They walk between realms, still keeping balance. In witchcraft when calling a circle some say.."hail too the guardians of the watch towers of the north, etc.." These are the watchers in these watch towers. It echos back too Enochian Angel magick.
It also offsplit into Strega Italian ceremonial witchcraft.

Also some say Daemons are the demons in xtian lore. I'd have too disagree. Like Faerie are considered fallen angels, daemons and faeries do not know boundaries, and can freely go (once we figure it out that is) too any plane, etc...

Also there is more: Species

Some people believe there are genetic otherkin, those who inheritted fae or elf in their family lines, as well as vampyric lineage, and or lycan (families from europe, but not just romania lol)
I can see some truth with this in my current linage. My mom's side has faerie, we have the sight. My dad's side have the violent tempers, and with it the warrior attitude, as well as some channeling/dream magicks and others.

The other is kind specified above, inter-dimensional otherkin
those from other planes as well as the earthen one. We believe we started incarnating too protect, awaken and teach too our kinds down through the centuries, too one day again be able too live in a world filled with magickal properties.

This list is by no means complete but its just some information. Also kin will all give you a diff answer on why they are here.
You can tell an otherkin is real by scanning them or feeling them out similar too how other vampyres sense each other out.

I find the idea of extra-terran Otherkin to be very interesting. There is even more fluff surrounding that online culture than there is with the vampire community, and it's gotten worse the more popular fantasy literature has gotten.

However, the core of the phenomenon appears to be the same sort of past-life memory thing that vampries sometimes experience, it's just that the lives remembered don't appear to the 'Kin in question to have been lived on Earth, with human beings.

Plus, the Otherkin community started finding each other decades before the internet was available, apparrently through coincidence and circumstance. I've heard rumors that people started changing locations and even nationalities to gather with each other in the US or UK.

I would LOVE to corroborate these rumors and talk to someone who's been part of a pre-Internet Otherkin community. I have a dream project for some point in the future, to try to find the first instance of words like "Otherkin" and "Elenari," and talk to people who awakened as 'Kin in the 1960's and 1970's as have been rumored. mmm.. research...

Otherkin.com / Otherkin.net has undertaken lists/surveys of where we live, and other details, but for a real good idea of understanding the depth and scope of how many there are and what the kinds are, would probably take more than 20 yrs of statistical analyses - weighing in factors not only of our physical regions, backgrounds, etc., but also of the memories we have, the reasons we feel that we are as we are - but i have not seen or heard of any group doing as in-depth of a survey on 'kin as AVA has done for vampires. It would be great if someone or several groups would.

I can't honestly convince myself that the groups and types that Anara listed are the end all, be all - in fact those seem to be the more popular types discussed. I have had discussions with 'kin who never quite made it to the popular list, who fall into the arena of lostkin, who don't remember or only have feeling and no frame of reference, or who were so distraught / disgusted with the acceptance of reports which may not be genuine (like videogame influenced 'kin) that they took to complete and total solitary discoveries.

And then there are hybrid theories, which would really throw the attempt of cataloging into left field. But if anyone knows about any statistics or studies that are widening the scope, do send me a link or something. I'd love to see them.

Actually we (AVA) were asked by a couple members of the otherkin community to do a survey about otherkin. But the problem with that is that we are so busy with the vamp surveys, and not only that, but as if you haven't noticed already, I don't know much about other kin. I have a long way to go before I can consider myself to knowing enough to be able to even contribute a fair share to do something like that.

I definitely think one should be undertaken. WIthin the last two years there was an anthropology student out west who sent out surveys to the online hot spots that he was going to incorporate into a project at the community college level. I think I may have seen the results of that somewhere. And on LJ there is another guy talking about doing a major undertaking including publishing an academic study of Otherkin. As of yet, I have not seen any books on the shelves at stores or at amazon.com

I have some knowledge on the subject of otherkin - a few yrs worth, but I don't feel that it is up to par with what would be required to do a serious study. I have been thinking about possibly doing it anyways - at some point.
