...it's a good idea to cleanse yourself by smudging or having a ritual bath. I like baths, so that's usually my method--plus they help me to relax more. I do most of my work at night, so I usually include the 4 elements--candles (fire), incense (air), salt or stones (earth), and the bath is the water. I try to use calming colors (blue, green, purple, etc.) and scents (lavendar, ecualyptus, violet, etc.) whenever possible, because I really like to unwind after a long day. I get into the tub, lie back, close my eyes and just soak in the hot water for several minutes. Then I consciously relax every inch of my body starting with my toes and working up to my head. Then I clear my mind and just absorb the calm energy around me. I usually leave the water in the tub when I get out (so the loud noise of the draining doesn't disrupt the quiet calmness) and immediately do my work after I've dried off and dressed. After my work is done, I let the water out.
Does anyone else do anything different to prepare for spells/rituals? |

Rose water is great. Sometimes I add an elixer that corresponds to my ritual/spell. |
