WHAT: Film Screening. The beloved tale of Cyrano de Bergerac, the poet-warrior with an oversized nose, gets the samurai treatment in Hiroshi Inagaki’s witty adaptation, which stars Toshiro Mifune as the haiku-spouting, sword-wielding hero. Alternately hilarious and moving, Mifune plays Heihachiro Komaki, smitten with a beautiful princess who sees him only as a friend. Unable to suppress his passion, Heihachiro helps another man woo her by giving him the poetry of his own heart. (1959, 111 minutes.) In Japanese with subtitles.
