Distributed Jan. 10-12, 2006:This letter serves as an open invitation to those wishing to submit questions for the upcoming vampire community survey and census being compiled by the AVA. We value the involvement of the entire vampire community in the creation of this survey prior to finalization of the editing process and subsequent review. We welcome all questions both quantitative and qualitative; as the final study will utilize this mixed methodology with a quasi-experimental design. The primary format is that of multiple or supplied choices with the option of non-applicable divided into primary sections (ie: Sanguine, Psy/Psi, Donor, Awakening, Family/Community, Paths (ie: Kheperian, Sanguinarian, Strigoi Vii, Solitary, etc.), Spiritual Beliefs, Gatherings, and so forth). Keep in mind that submitted questions will later be modified to fit specific models of survey and community participatory research. Due to ethical considerations and possible IRB involvement, questions that require an answer that yields personally identifiable data will be prohibited. We have already formed over a hundred questions divided into different focus topics with the vast majority of the finished product kept offline until public release. In particular we are seeking questions that discuss particular paths, beliefs, backgrounds, awakenings, and that go against the common grain of simplistic demographical and the stereotypical. The concentration now is on unique questions that would be of benefit to the entire community to have answered through a large sampling of our population.
Our next meeting to discuss research is this Friday so as much material as we have available by then the sooner we can begin the editing process. However, we will accept material for several more weeks or until satisfied we have adequately addressed our focus while representing a diverse cross-section of the community. As an aside there will be use of a test group and oral administration of this survey under a controlled setting along with both open-ended questions and multiple case studies of persons affirming what is "interpreted" to be the experience of an awakening or other vampiric conditions. This study will be conducted apart from the primary survey/census with individuals who lack an educated awareness to either the OVC or any local vampire or otherkin community. Questions in reference to the primary survey/census may be submitted to either of the following locations.
