What theories regarding psi or energy manipulation have you heard over the years?

Which ones carry more weight with you and why?

Do you have your own theories to lend?  Is it genetics, natural or learned ability, or something else?

I think much of what energy work I do is of a natural origin.
I could see auras from a very young age, often i would confuse a person's aura with their surface emotions. Sometimes to my utter surprise.
Later I learned to heal, to manipulate peoples thoughts, and to read thoughts.

That brings me to a question about reading thoughts... I read them but I read them best in the instant before their mind snaps to recognition. Like a person walks around a corner and sees me I can read their thoughts until they see me and recognize me as a person and not as an object.
Is that strange or is anyone else like this?

Later in life (age 40) I decided to try the magical pathways.
They added tools to my skillset, but mostly magic gave me ideas, a set of ethics, and people to talk about these things with.

I think that subtle energies are forms of physical energy, perhaps carried by a smaller, denser particle than an electron.
