I've been thinking about this for a while. What makes people psychic? I guess what I really mean is what causes it? From what I know being psychic just means that you use a part or parts of your brain that most people don't use. But what causes that? I know that people can develop it, but is it just a random accurance that people are born being psychic?

I can see auras, do some energy work as well as some other things. From what I've researched that makes me fall into the psychic category, but I don't like using that word because when I hear psychic I think of Madame Cleo on late night television taking calls and prodicting the future or reading peoples' minds.

But anyways, what causes it? I've heard that children are born with the ability to be psychic and as they grow older it isn't nurtured and it just simply goes away. So why is it that sometimes it doesn't go away? Or it goes away but then comes back? Is it genetic? Is it just something random?

Any thoguhts?

I don't think anyone knows it. It might just be something innate to our species.

Being psychic, has to do with chromosomes, it has to do with how we are numbered on the inside. The way we are numbered, is understood, when faced with inherent danger, often immediate and precise. Leave the enemy to cut through, and we would find many psychic's around. Being psychic has to do with pain and its management.

As to the link with a certain species,

geographical terrain doesn't effect much, derived impulse to be psychic. Hence, being psychic has to do with issues that relate to hunger and thirst, or issues that relate to starvation. Keep a person alive sans vitamins, and create a psychic in 25 hours.

Are you sure you're not replacing psychic with like, instincts and natural impulses?

Well I think that there are two ways that part of 90% of a person's brain that they don't use can become active. Some research that I found shows that one of the main ways is extreme head trama. I for one have had head trama and fell into and had to stay at a hospital for a while and later found out that my brain activity was around 36%, but as far as I know I didn't gain any powers, unless you count the fact that I heal three times faster than before it. (I don't understand it but the doctors said I shouldn't have been able to walk for another two weeks) . But the only other way I can think that that 90% of your brain would wake up would be if your born with it.

being psychic has to do with fear, the same being genetic would be a tall order. For fear to become genetic, situations that arise might have to be very complex. In such, perhaps, what a person is born with, might be portrayed.

'instincts and impulses', that would be a disorder. Instincts are short, whereas impulses are long. If being psychic were to be both instincts and impulses, that would reduce to
instincts, and that wouldn't be psychic. Instincts have to do more with 'facing the enemy and like situations'. Impulses might be more vampyric in nature, deep and which resonate at times. You may try reaching out to a port from the port side of a boat, that would be an impulse.

Has to do with fear?
How do you come to that conclusion, how do you know? Instincts kick in, also in a fight or flight (often fearful) situations.

Fear can't become genetic. Fear itself is a learned response both from those around you saying "no" or "that's scary" and from consequences with action.
One touches a stove, they get burned, they learn to fear the stove or the heat from it.
If you have  dog, born with a tail. Then you cut the tail and have it breed, it's puppies will be born with tails. Though we're talking an intangible feeling, it's much the same way. Instilling fear in a parent would not result in the child, being born, with that same fear. Though they may learn that fear from their parent and in turn, carry the same fear.

Fear does not, on it's own, change one's DNA there is no way, for fear to become genetic.

Instincts and impulses are not disorders. The fight or flight response is and instinctual reaction to various forms of stresses in one's life.
They are natural and we use them every day. Moving your finger is a physical impulse from your brain to your muscle. Deciding you want to go for a walk, is a sort of impulse, mentally.
They are natural part of being alive.  and have little relation to vampirism. Though, sure vampirism, or any state of being (in any sense) could effect your impulses.

I'm not saying that being psychic is an instinct or impulse, i'm curious, because it sounds like you're saying being psychic is part of our physical or genetic makup. while it's possible, i'm not so sure, and i don't beleive there's proof.
It sounds like you're describing instincts and impulses not psychic ability.

In my opinion, everyone has psychic abilities, it's just a matter of whether we chose to listen, or pay attention.  Some are born with a profound awareness, and the ability to utilize what is natural to them.  Others have to practice to listen and not fight against ourselves.

I've often read of children not being jaded by the society in which they live; I've even seen it within my own children the way they view humanity for instances, boggles my mind to their own perspectives, even within grown up discussions.  How children see humanity would play a huge role in their own innate abilities.   Due to they have not yet witnessed/read/ been told/ or have been subjected to the prejudices attached to the word 'psychic' or the like.   They listen to themselves, react to what they feel, whether conscious of it or not, for example, when I was younger I attended a babysitting camp, the very first piece of advice I was given was never allow the children to see your fear, as children can pick up on the most subtle emotional changes.

The saying, "children just know" is no exaggeration, why?  I cannot give you a scientific reasoning but my opinion is as stated, we all have the abilities it is a matter of acting on those or fighting against ourselves whereas children do not fight themselves or their egos yet.

I have mixed opinions on whether psychic abilities have anything to do with genetics, but I can tell you from experience, if a child grows up in a family that attempts to scare the crap out of them by stating what they are seeing and feeing is the devil or it's an overactive imagination.  Then subject that child to therapy visits, it takes a huge toll on the child.  It took me years upon years to 'reactivate' for a lack of a better word, to bring forth those abilities and relearn what was natural to me as a child, it took a traumatic experience in my life, to assist me in seeing the 'bigger picture'.  In addition, I think it varies on individuals as to what would trigger their natural abilities to come forth.

Sorry, I began to ramble.

In regards to born psychics:

Appears to be genetic.
Evidence:
Runs strongly in families.
Is found in those who were adopted as babies who come from psi lineage, but were adopted by non-psis.

Any really in-depth studies?  Nope, not yet.  Just polls and surveys.  But it's definitely a strong possibility, given what's been reported.
